Blessed Are the Peacemakers

As a Law Enforcement Officer, have you ever been involved in a conversation that amounted to gossip, rumors, innuendo or creating dissension? Take a look at what these four bible verses say about that:

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
Proverbs 26:20

A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
Proverbs 11:13

A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
Proverbs 18:7

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matthew 5: 9

Everybody seems to want the latest juicy shop gossip. But what does that do to the unity and camaraderie that is needed to grow a strong, dependable law enforcement team?

If people keep talking about an issue they have with someone, or repeating gossip to others, then those problems will keep on festering and growing, destroying trust and unity between team members.
But if you can just let it go, not run others down, not repeat the latest juicy gossip, and can keep things in confidence, the troubling issues can quietly die away, and unity and harmony can result. And who doesn’t want to work with people that all get along, and know that they all have each other’s back without hesitation or reservation? The Lord is well pleased when His people dwell together in unity.
